My name is Roberto-Orlando but I invite all of you to call me ‘Berto, and if you didn’t know…that’s B-E-R-T-O. I wanted to kick off our cyber relationship by introducing myself & telling all of you a little bit about me.
I’m 22 years old.
I was born in Hartford, CT.
I was raised in Palm Beach County, FL.
Both of my parents are from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I am fluent in Español.
And for those of you who are into astrology, my zodiac sign is Gemini.
I am very excited to join the GTSA Family. I wanted to take this opportunity to speak on something that is very important to me – intention. I live my life based on intention and believe in its power. My intention in taking on this venture is to be another voice in an under-represented group, a group I lovingly refer to as “Gay-tinos.”
Can you name even 10 males of Hispanic origin who are openly out and proud to be gay? Who have achieved mainstream popularity or have at least some sort of substantial public notoriety? Forget 10, how about 5? I didn’t think so. Not so easy, right?
I don’t have all the answers. I won’t claim to and I certainly won’t pretend to. I do, however, have quite a bit to say. Hopefully there will be things that you can relate to and things that will resonate with you. There may also be things you dislike or disagree with. That is the beauty of a platform such as this one. It provides a place where people from different backgrounds can come together in (what ideally will be) clear and conscious communication.
Welcome to “’Berto’s Banter”. I view this lifestyle column as a responsibility – one I do not take lightly. You can expect honesty & sincerity from me. I will be keeping it real and truthful. I name names and point fingers. If you can’t take the heat, boo, get out of the kitchen. Bienvenidos & let’s have fun, shall we?
