OITNB Writer Leaves Husband for Poussey

Lauren Morelli, one of the head writers for Orange is the New Black, has filed a joint petition for divorce with her husband of two years, Steve Basilone.  TMZ reports the reason for the divorce is Morelli’s realization of her sexuality.

Morelli began working on Orange is the New Black five months after her wedding and it was through writing Piper’s journey that she began to realize her own feelings. Morelli said she saw herself in the character and began to feel like a fraud for being married to a man. “I found a mouthpiece for my own desires and a glimmer of what my future could look like,” Morelli said.

However, the revelations didn’t stop there. Morelli has begun dating Samira Wiley, who portrays Poussey on the show.

The split is amicable, possibly because they have more in common now that they can discuss their love mutual love of pussy. According to the divorce documents, Morelli gets her lexus, her apartment and her sapphire engagement ring. Basilone gets to keep the Mazda hatchback, his boyish good looks and what remains of his dignity. No word on whether he’ll pick up the U-Haul for Morelli and Wiley.
