A docu-series about transgender friends is coming to The Discovery Life Channel. Those Girls focuses on four pairs of couples and friends living in Kansas City, MO. It marks the first original series for the newly rebranded network, as first reported by The Wrap.
“Those Girls embodies what Discovery Life Channel is meant to be – a place for people from all walks of life to have their stories told without a filter, and I am thrilled that this is the first series we’re announcing as our own,” said general manager of Discovery Life Channel Jane Latman in a statement.
On the series will be Robyn and Andrew, who are exploring a romantic relationship now that Robyn is transitioning, but were formerly best friends; married couple Macy and Sharon, who are handling Macy’s recent transition; best friends Chloe and Kassidy are transitioning together; and couple Tanya and Jamie, who are dealing with child-related issues with Tanya’s ex-wife.
“No manufacturing, no scripts, no concocted storylines, Those Girls is an inspiring, surprising, and entertaining look at an amazing group of women who just happen to be transgender,” Latman added.
The series is scheduled to premiere in March 2015 and will be available in 47 million homes.
